Without going into assessments, Albert Serra follows bullfighter Andrés Roca Rey during one day of his career. The loneliness of the bullfighter, violence and death, but also courage, aesthetics and the weight of tradition are present in this unique film.

The film offers an insight into the art of bullfighting, focusing on the relationship between the bullfighter and the bullfighting tradition, as well as the confrontation between man and bull. The film does not use narration or interviews, but directly presents the moments before and during the bullfight.
